Be good. Keep it human.
The rules for using Wack, written for people instead of a filing cabinet. Public means public; your private Wack life stays private.
Effective August 4, 2026 · 18+
1. The short version
Wack is social media for your actual friends. Use it honestly, do not hurt people or the service, and remember that a post marked Public is public on purpose. These terms are the agreement between you and Wack when you use wack.dev, the messaging app at message.wack.dev — including its Android and iOS builds — or any related service (together, the “Service”).
2. Your account, and the 18+ rule
Wack is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or use the Service, anywhere in the world. That is not a regional minimum with exceptions layered on top — it is the line, everywhere.
Being straight with you about how that is enforced: we do not currently ask for a date of birth and there is no age check at sign-up. The 18+ requirement is a term of this agreement and a condition of holding an account, not a gate you had to get past. If you are under 18, do not create an account. If you already have one, stop using it and write to hello@wack.dev so we can remove it. Any account we learn belongs to someone under 18 gets closed, and its content deleted.
Provide accurate account information and keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity on your account. Do not sell, transfer, impersonate, or create accounts to evade a restriction.
During beta, features may change and some access may be limited while we test capacity and safety. Access is not a promise that the Service will remain available in its current form.
3. Your content and who can see it
You keep ownership of the content you create. You give Wack the limited rights needed to host, process, display, back up, and deliver that content in order to operate and improve the Service.
Visibility matters. Circles, direct messages, voice notes, calls, presence, and private posts are Wack-only. Content you mark Public may be visible on Wack and the open web, indexed by search engines, and copied or displayed by other people and services. Do not put secrets, sensitive personal information, or anything you would not want made public in a Public post.
Nothing you send in the messaging app is ever published publicly by us. The messenger has no public surface: no feed, no public posts, and no connection to the AT Protocol network.
If Wack publishes a Public post through the AT Protocol, that post is portable by design. Other compatible services may retrieve, index, cache, or display it under their own rules. Removing a post from Wack tells the protocol layer to remove Wack's record, but cannot erase lawful copies or caches controlled by others.
Wack may also periodically read the public replies, likes, reposts, public actor details, counts, and moderation labels associated with a Wack-published record. We use that server-side snapshot to reconcile public engagement on Wack. Labeled, unavailable, withdrawn, or no longer public material is hidden by default and is not copied into Wack's private social graph.
4. Things you cannot do here
Wack has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Content or conduct that threatens, harasses, exploits, or endangers another person does not belong on Wack — full stop — and accounts responsible for it are removed.
Do not use Wack to:
- break the law or infringe someone else's rights;
- threaten, harass, stalk, exploit, or deliberately deceive people;
- post sexual content involving minors or facilitate their exploitation;
- record a call or a voice note of someone who has not agreed to it, where the law where either of you is requires that agreement;
- distribute malware, scrape the Service abusively, or attack its security;
- spam, manipulate engagement, or operate undisclosed automated accounts; or
- use Wack to collect or sell personal information without permission.
5. Moderation and ending access
We enforce that zero-tolerance policy directly: we may remove content, limit features, or suspend or end accounts when we reasonably believe these terms, the law, or another person's safety requires it. We will try to give notice when practical, but may act immediately for security, abuse, legal, or safety reasons.
You have two tools against an abusive person, both inside the messaging app itself: tap Report on a message to flag it to us, or block the person from the conversation's overflow menu to end their ability to reach you. Both are also available for posts and profiles on wack.dev. Our Safety & reporting page explains the current process, its limits, and what changes when public content has reached independent AT services or the open web.
You can stop using Wack at any time. Delete account is in Settings in both apps, and it removes the whole account rather than one app's view of it. Subject to legal, security, and backup-retention needs, you may also request deletion by writing to us. Public content that has already left Wack may remain available elsewhere as described above.
6. Our service and our stuff
Wack, its design, software, and branding are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms give you permission to use the Service, not ownership of it.
The Service is provided as available. Especially during beta, there may be interruptions, bugs, or changes. Wack is not a telephone service and is not a substitute for one: calls run peer-to-peer between browsers and can fail for reasons on your network or the other person's. To the extent allowed by law, Wack is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the Service.
7. Privacy and changes to these terms
Our Privacy & values page explains what we collect and why, scoped to whichever of the two apps you're using. If we make a material change to these terms, we will update the effective date and give notice in the Service when appropriate. Continuing to use Wack after the updated terms take effect means you accept them.
Questions, legal notices, privacy requests, and account export or deletion requests can be sent to hello@wack.dev. Wack is not an emergency service; contact the emergency services available where you are if someone is in immediate danger.
